Do you have a child with a disability? Do you have questions about special education, therapies, and resources? Want to meet other families like yours?  Join VELA to gain knowledge, empowerment, resilience and community. 

We provide hands-on courses, wraparound services and family events, to support you on your journey, at no cost to you. We hope to meet you and your family soon. Even now, as we move through all unknowns of COVID-19, we have adapted our courses and groups to be virtual.  Here is our Fall 2020 Flyer and below are registration links for our Fall Courses and Support Groups.

Special Education Course (Virtual)

Feeling confused & overwhelmed? We see you. Join VELA for a free interactive virtual 4 session course to understand your child's IEP, learn what questions to ask and how to create the best for your child (especially now!). Gain support, strategies and resources.

Dates: 9/30, 10/7, 10/14 & 10/21
Must attend all 4 Sessions: Meets 1x/week for 1.5 hours
Afternoon and Evening Courses Available.

Autism Course (Virtual)

Does your child have autism? Join VELA for a free interactive virtual 4 session course to understand their strengths and needs, learn how to get the most out of services, and how to thrive at home ( especially now!)
Gain support, strategies and resources.

Dates: Starts 9/29 (evening) or 10/1 (afternoon)
Must attend all 4 Sessions: Meets 1x/week for 1.5 hours

Caregiver Wellness Course (Virtual)

You are doing it all. Especially now. Join VELA for a free interactive virtual 4 session course to learn practical and mindfulness based strategies to take of yourself in the midst of it all. Gain support, strategies and resources.

Dates: 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17
Must attend all 4 Sessions: Meets 1x/week for 1.5 hours

Register on Zoom for Evening Course (6-7:30pm)

Monthly Support Group (Virtual)

Meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 7-8pm for our Monthly Support Group. Learn strategies, connect with others parents and share and gain resources. Groups are held on Zoom and parents must register to participate.

Supportive Case Management

Have specific questions about your child's special education plan? Need help connecting to resources? Having a hard time accessing therapies? Meet one-on-one with a VELA case manager for individualized support.

Call 512-850-8281 to schedule a virtual case management session. 

Family Fun Days
